Tim Goodwin was elected chair of trustees of ECI in October 2019. Tim is the Founder/Director of Sustainable Leadership, Ltd., which provides strategic planning, organisational change, and leadership development services, with particular emphasis on supporting 3rd sector organisations, sustainability projects and building community capital.

John Barrett worked in London for many years as Sales Director for large manufacturers and importers of textiles and threads. He moved down to Devon to retire in 2000, setting up his own B&B for 10 years. He now plays an active part in his community and beyond, coordinating soup kitchen activity in Exeter, holding the Chairman’s role on Silverton Parish Council and is a trustee on the local community hall committee.

Chris Neale is an IT consultant of many years. As well as founding and running a successful IT company for fifteen years, he has initiated and led multi million pound change programmes to provide improved services and cost reductions to a wide range of clients. He moved to Exeter in 2015 as his wife secured a lectureship role in the university and he is currently a full time carer for his additional needs son Francis whilst working in a start-up cloud based software company. He is also a trustee of www.playskill.org where his son was lucky enough to attend two very enjoyable and useful terms.

Alan Broughton worked in the City for over 25-years as a leading financial strategist and equity investment analyst for many of the worlds’ leading investment banks, including SG Warburg, Swiss Bank Corporation, UBS, Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley and the Royal Bank of Canada. Alan has been involved in a number of national and local charities since 2006, including acting as Chairman of ‘Fun Clubs for Kids’ (Devon) and as Trustee for BBC Children in Need, Action for Children and more recently Children’s Hospices South West.

Sheila Swarbrick was elected Vice Chair of the ECI Council in October 2019. Sheila is the Rector of the Parish of Central Exeter and a chaplain at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Sheila was involved in the setting up of the Exeter City Centre Chaplaincy and is now a Trustee. She is a Trustee on the St Petrock’s and Heavitree Parish Lands Charity.

Charlotte Hanson is a charity sector professional with over 20 years experience of working in the community and voluntary sector in the UK and across Europe. Charlotte has led teams working within communities, women’s enterprise, research and impact, and health and social care. Charlotte is an impact and fundraising specialist and is currently working within the arts & cultural sector as Development Manager at Exeter Northcott Theatre. She has held a variety of senior level and Board roles, including co-founding Women’s Development Unlimited to grow women’s enterprise across Devon, and more recently as CEO of the East Devon charity Action East Devon, where she lives with her family.

Caroline Lake is Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing for the FTSE 250 wealth management firm Brewin Dolphin. She has worked there for 16 years and balances her time between their Exeter and London offices. Caroline is also on the Women in Finance Board, part of a Government initiative aimed at increasing the number of women in senior roles within the finance industry.
Caroline was born and raised in the Westcountry, has lived in Exeter since 2003 and currently lives in Exwick with her husband.

Rob Pepper was elected Honorary Treasurer and Company Secretary in December 2019. Rob is a chartered accountant working at the University of Exeter. His background is in charity finance, having trained with charity audit and advisory firm Sayer Vincent. His previous role was as International Finance Manager for Amnesty International, where the role involved supporting strategic decision making and increasing financial skills within local Amnesty International sections.

Beth Reynolds has worked in HR across a range of organisations since completing her MA in HR Management in 2011. She has worked in the private and voluntary sectors as a member of staff, and the voluntary and public sector as a volunteer trustee and school governor, so has a range of experience of HR within different organisations. Beth is currently the HR Manager for Libraries Unlimited, the charity running 54 libraries across Devon and Torbay with around 380 members of staff. She has experience of leading on complex change management projects, and of working with managers at all levels to advise on employment best practice and ensure strategic direction is underlined by a people management focus.

Diane Hayman has worked for several blue chip companies - as a management consultant, and as a trader and a marketer in financial services. She also has start-up experience. Diane currently works in marketing for Hawksmoor Investment Management in Exeter, where she also sits on the company’s Charity Committee. Having moved with her family from London to Exeter in 2012 she completed an MBA at the University of Exeter, and currently mentors young women as part of the University Career Mentor Scheme.

Geoff Poad is Clerk to the Trustee Board. He worked for 40 years in Local Government. Outside work he was very involved in the admin of Exeter Philharmonic Choir. His Presidency was ending so he wanted to make a contribution to another charity. The work at ECI and the dedication of the staff continues to impress him.
