We’re thrilled to share that our Magic Carpet project has been awarded £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund.
This funding win is a huge vote of confidence in our work and will allow Exeter Community Initiatives to expand Magic Carpet, bringing inclusive, accessible creative opportunities to adults with learning disabilities, additional needs, and mental health challenges across Exeter and the surrounding areas.
Magic Carpet brings people together through creativity — building confidence, connection, visibility, and a strong sense of belonging for those who too often face barriers to participating in community life. Everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves and feel part of something meaningful, and this funding helps make that possible.
Building on the powerful success of our Creative Space Exhibition, which celebrated the talents of artists with disabilities, neurodivergence, and lived experience of mental health challenges, we’re excited to grow Magic Carpet even further. The funding will support new creative opportunities, including a city-wide exhibition in Exeter in April this year creating more platforms for underrepresented voices to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
Thanks to National Lottery players, Magic Carpet can continue breaking down barriers, nurturing creativity, and helping our community thrive.
