Before Christmas a local provider decided that they were going to stop running a play group at a local centre from Christmas. The parents who used the group didn’t want this to happen as there was nothing else being provided in this area.
The Community Builder listened to the Parents. They wanted to start a group themselves but were concerned about what this would entail. The Community Builder was able to gently challenge potential barriers and support the parents to move into action on a more informal basis as local residents meeting up with their children. They began with local residents donating toys and the Community Builder has supported them to get additional funding to provide some furniture, more toys and is hopeful that a bid to cover the rent will be approved.
