ECI continues to meet the requirements of the Investors in People Standard

Friday 27th June 2008

ECI recently underwent its first three-yearly Investors In People (IIP) review, successfully meeting all key aspects of the award. The IIP Standard helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of their people (both paid staff and volunteers). The review found that ECI is continually improving and growing in this area.

The report noted: ‘It is always pleasing when undertaking an Investors in People review to find that an organisation is really committed to continuous improvement. Too many firms tend to stand still. Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI) is certainly not one of them.

The assessor also commented: ‘During this review I found a charity that is happy to examine the way that it operates and is continually looking for ways to develop. One of the real strengths of ECI is the positive, friendly and supportive working environment. There is openness, trust and mutual respect. People enjoy working there’.

The Launch of the St Sidwell’s Centre as an Independent Organisation

 Tuesday 8 th April 2008

Today, St Sidwells celebrated their departure from Exeter Community Initiatives, to become an independent organisation. St Sidwells were delighted to welcome Dame Suzi Leather, a former ECI trustee and the first Chair of St Sidwell’s Centre, and now Chair of the Charity Commission, to formally launch the new organisation, with a party at the St Sidwells Centre this afternoon. More than 50 guests representing a range of local organisations, funders, and user groups joined Project Committee members, staff and volunteers at the Launch party, to celebrate St Sidwell’s success so far whilst looking towards its future.

ECI wishes Anderson Jones, Steve Barriball and the rest of the staff and trustee team all the very best for their future as well. However, ECI is not saying a complete goodbye, as St Sidwell’s will continue to receive some management and wider support in the short-term to help manage its transition to independence.
