ECI managed the Exwick Neighbourhood Project between August 2004 and August 2007. This built on the earlier work that had been carried out in Exwick through LINKS, a former project of ECI's.
The Exwick Neighbourhood Project worked to actively involve the members of the community, of all ages, in the issues that affect their lives and to improve the quality of life for those living in the area. Its aims were to empower them with the tools to make informed decisions that would aid the development of that community.
The project was a partnership between local residents, community groups and agencies working in the area, including Exwick Community Association, Farm Hill Area Residents Association, Iveagh Court Residents Association, Exwick Heights Primary School, Exeter City Council, Devon County Council, Devon Youth Services and Exeter Primary Care Trust.
Through Section 106 monies Exeter City Council built a new community centre, shop and multi-use games area. The project supported Exwick Community Association to take on the management of the community centre.
