Community Hubs

The Community Hubs project is run by a partnership between the Community Council of Devon (CCD), Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI) and the Devon Association of Community Buildings (DACB), with CCD being the lead partner.

The Community Hubs definition for this project is 'A Community Hub is a multi-use (minimum of 3 separate user groups), community-run and led building, which is proactive in enabling a range of services to improve the quality of life for the whole community.'

The main aims of the project are:

to set up a Network of Community and Residents Associations in Exeter so that these groups can share learning and experiences and offer practical support to each other while also receiving support from ECI
to offer one-to-one support to community hub groups to adopt an entrepreneurial approach and develop sustainable funding practices
to support community hub groups in developing and delivering new services and activities
to support community buildings to engage in the Hallmark Quality Assurance Scheme.

The project began in June 2010 and the ECI development worker for the project is Alex Howarth.
