Help us and gain skills, experience at the same time! Read more
This project began in November 2008. The focus of the project is to use creative and environmental activities as a means to find out from adults (of all ages) and children about their lives and how they see their neighbourhood and to create opportunities to build connections between people through shared interests and experiences to build a stronger and more vibrant community.
The project is run by a part-time Community Worker, Eve Malster, who works with the schools, other agencies, groups and individual residents in the area to get initial ideas underway and to find out as the work progresses what really interests people.
Mincinglake Community Orchard Group
This is a new development within the Beacon Heath Community Project, read on...
The Community Orchard can be seen from Calthorpe Rd and brings a new lease of life to an area which has been neglected for a while. It is hoped that by creatively and respectively using the site we can make a beautiful enduring space, for everyone to enjoy and learn from.
The community orchard group is a new venture and is part of the wider Beacon Heath Community Project run by Exeter Community Initiatives. The new orchard was planted in Spring 2010 by a team of local people and named the 'Mincinglake Community Orchard'. There is an old orchard near the new site, which has already been used to host previous events

We are running a Skills Survey in the area at the moment which aims to build up a bank of useful skills in the Beacon Heath area. It is important to explain that the skills survey isn’t about being the best at something, or even having lots of different skills. The idea is that people just say what they could offer to a community skills swap. For example; ironing can be very useful skill to someone that doesn’t have the time or hates ironing! The survey can also be completed to explore what other skills you would like to learn, we can then help you identify how and where to learn them.

We also publish a seasonal newsletter for the residents of Beacon Heath called The Beacon Newsletter. Click here to view or download the most recent newsletter.
An interim evaluation on the Beacon Heath Community Project has been written and is available for viewing by clicking on this link.
